Investigating a drain that keeps blocking
- The problem
- A blockage returns after clearance, or several outlets drain slowly. Repeating the same clearance may leave an underlying defect unexplained.
- The work involved
- Establish the accessible drain route and who is responsible, then inspect the agreed runs with a camera where conditions allow. Any clearance needed first is a separate part of the scope.
- Checks and next steps
- Review the recorded findings, explain any visible obstruction or defect and set out the next step. A camera survey does not itself repair a damaged pipe.

Will jetting repair a damaged drain?
No. Jetting may remove a suitable obstruction, but it does not rebuild damaged pipework. If defects are suspected, inspection and a separate repair proposal may be needed.
Is the blocked drain my responsibility?
It depends on where the blockage is and which properties the pipe serves. A public or shared sewer may be the sewerage company’s responsibility. Describe the affected properties and check the responsible company’s guidance before paying for private work.
