For safely accessible faults that can be resolved on the first visit. Parts, materials and further work are quoted separately for your approval. If a first-visit fix isn’t possible, the agreed visit charge still covers the call-out and assessment. We explain the fault and quote any parts, further investigation or larger repair for your approval.
Describe the socket fault and stop using visibly damaged fittings. We arrange an electrician to check the installation, determine a suitable repair or replacement and test the agreed work. Extra sockets or circuit changes need separate assessment.

First establish whether the fault is at that socket, an appliance or the circuit supplying it. Tell us if other sockets have also stopped working. We arrange the relevant checks and any suitable repair; replacement of the faceplate alone may not resolve a supply fault.

Investigating a faulty socket

- A socket is unreliable, damaged or no longer supplies power. The fault can be at the fitting or elsewhere on the circuit.
- The work involved
- The electrician investigates the fault, safely isolates as required and repairs the connection or replaces a suitable fitting where appropriate. Circuit defects are explained before extra work.
