If your home has no heating, tell Mayfair whether hot water still works and whether every radiator is affected. Those details help separate a whole-system problem from an individual radiator or room-control fault.

What if the repair needs more work?

If a first-visit fix isn’t possible, the agreed visit charge still covers the call-out and assessment. We explain the fault and quote any parts, further investigation or larger repair for your approval.

We’ll give you the full visit price when you book. There is no additional call-out fee on top of that price.

Workmanship, warranties and specialist work

Any workmanship guarantee is set out in your written quotation: the work covered, duration, exclusions and how to report a problem. Product warranties follow the manufacturer’s terms. A repair does not automatically guarantee the whole existing system. Your statutory consumer rights are unaffected.

Gas work must be carried out by an appropriately qualified Gas Safe registered engineer. Electrical and unvented hot-water work need the relevant competence and certification where required. Mayfair matches the work to the appropriate specialist.

How urgently do you need help?

The situation matters more than the name of the fault. Use the safety guidance above if anyone may be at risk.

Urgent repair

Call to check availability.

No heating or hot water, an active system leak, or repeated faults stopping the system? Explain what has stopped working and whether anyone in the home is particularly affected.

We aim to arrive within 1 hour for urgent London repairs, subject to availability, postcode, specialist requirements and travel conditions. The estimated arrival time and charge must be confirmed by phone. An enquiry does not book attendance.

Routine work

Plan the repair or service.

Annual servicing, a planned controls upgrade or one cool radiator while the rest of the home heats normally and there is no leak: send the details for a suitable assessment.

Understand the repair

What the engineer will do.

An assessment may involve the boiler, programmer, room thermostat, circulating system or zone controls. Heating that stays off at every radiator needs a different investigation from one room that is slow to warm. Parts should follow the findings, not an assumed diagnosis.

  • Assessment of a heating system that is not responding
  • Review of the affected rooms, controls and heat source
  • Agreed repair or a clearly explained specialist next step
  • Operation checks for the heating functions included in the repair

A useful first enquiry

What to tell Mayfair.

  • Say whether the hot taps still produce hot water.
  • List all affected rooms and any working radiators.
  • Note the visible programmer schedule, room setting and any fault code.
  • Mention anyone particularly affected by the loss of heat and the available access times.

Before any work

If it is safe and there is no gas smell, alarm, burning or water near electrics, you can read the display and check the normal heating schedule against the user manual. Leave internal gas, wiring, pump and valve work to the appropriate engineer.

What affects the quote?

The quote depends on whether the fault is in a control, the appliance or the distribution system, and whether access to shared equipment is needed. Explain any previous repair so the assessment does not assume a new, unrelated fault.

Get the fault looked at.

Send the symptoms, equipment details and postcode. We’ll arrange the right engineer to investigate the fault and explain the repair options.

Example problem & repair approach

Heating that won’t come on

The problem: The radiators stay cold when heating is requested.

How we can help: Check the heat source, controls and circulation to locate the fault, then carry out the agreed repair and test the heating response.

Questions about no heating & central heating repairs.

Why is my hot water working but the heating is not?

This pattern can involve heating settings, controls or circulation. It does not identify a single failed part. Tell the engineer which functions still work and when the heating last operated normally.

What if the whole block has no heating?

Contact the building manager or communal-system operator as well as reporting the problem. A shared supply may need their investigation and authority; work inside your flat may not resolve the building-wide fault.

What if only one radiator is cold?

Use the cold radiator repair page and name the affected room. If the rest of the home has heat, the assessment can focus on that radiator and its controls before considering a whole-system repair.
