What if the repair needs more work?

If a first-visit fix isn’t possible, the agreed visit charge still covers the call-out and assessment. We explain the fault and quote any parts, further investigation or larger repair for your approval.

We’ll give you the full visit price when you book. There is no additional call-out fee on top of that price.

Workmanship, warranties and specialist work

Any workmanship guarantee is set out in your written quotation: the work covered, duration, exclusions and how to report a problem. Product warranties follow the manufacturer’s terms. A repair does not automatically guarantee the whole existing system. Your statutory consumer rights are unaffected.

Gas work must be carried out by an appropriately qualified Gas Safe registered engineer. Electrical and unvented hot-water work need the relevant competence and certification where required. Mayfair matches the work to the appropriate specialist.

How urgently do you need help?

Routine work

Plan the repair or service.

A tap dripping into the basin, a planned replacement or a manageable fitting fault without escaping water: send the details and your preferred timing.

Exact scope

What Mayfair will check.

The assessment considers the affected fittings and the property’s supply arrangement. If a supply problem is suspected, water-company information or building-management checks may be needed alongside private plumbing work.

  • Assessment of the reported flow or pressure problem
  • Checks appropriate to the affected fittings and supply
  • Findings and a proposed next step before replacement work

Prepare your enquiry

What to tell the plumber.

  • List affected taps or showers and hot/cold differences.
  • Say whether the problem is new, intermittent or long-standing.
  • Mention shared supplies, tanks or pumps if known.

What affects the cost?

Investigation and any resulting repair should be clearly scoped. Replacing a pump or valve is not automatically included in an assessment.

Describe the symptom before choosing a repair.

  • Compare which hot and cold outlets are affected without adjusting unfamiliar equipment.
  • Mention if neighbours are affected or the issue appeared after plumbing work.

Example problem & repair approach

Weak flow at the taps

The problem: One outlet runs slowly or pressure is low across the home.

How we can help: Compare the affected fittings and supply arrangement to locate the restriction, then recommend the appropriate repair or supply investigation.

Questions about this repair.

Will a new tap solve low water pressure?

Not necessarily. A local restriction and a wider supply problem need different responses. Establish the cause before buying replacement fittings.

Is weak tap flow the same as low boiler pressure?

A boiler’s sealed heating-circuit reading and domestic tap flow are different checks. Tell Mayfair which symptom you have so the correct plumbing or heating assessment can be arranged.

Can a shared supply affect the enquiry?

Yes. Tell us who manages shared tanks, pumps or pipework and whether other occupiers have the same issue. Access or supplier checks may be needed before a private repair.

Questions about booking a plumber.

How much does a plumber cost in London?

From £85 including VAT for call-out, assessment and labour to fix a small, safely accessible fault on the first visit where possible. We’ll give you the full visit price when you book. Parts and further work need a separate quote and your approval. If the repair needs more work, the visit charge still covers call-out and assessment.

Can I book a plumber near me by postcode?

Send your full postcode and the plumbing problem. We use them to check the appropriate trade and current availability. Postal districts cross borough boundaries, so an area match alone does not confirm attendance.

Can you help landlords and tenants?

Yes. Include the reported fault, who can arrange access and who approves the work. Where a tenant, landlord or managing agent needs to authorise attendance or expenditure, agree that before booking.

Do you offer same-day or emergency plumbing?

Call to discuss current availability. This website does not promise same-day attendance, a fixed response time or 24-hour cover. Do not wait for an online reply if there is an immediate risk.

Can you find matching taps and replacement parts?

Share the brand, model and finish if known. Mayfair can discuss sourcing compatible parts or a suitable replacement, with cost and any return visit agreed before ordering.

Is repairing water-damaged decoration included?

Only if it is included in the written scope. Tell us if you also want plastering, cabinetry repairs or decorating so the complete job can be planned and quoted.
